After studying Psycholinguistics, Neuropsychology and Neurobiology at the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU, Münich, Germany) and graduating from the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics (Tübingen, Germany), she worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Laboratory of Neuropsychology (NIHM, Bethesda, MD, USA) and in the Division of Biology at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech, Pasadena, CA, USA). Since 2011 she is Schilling Professor and Director of the Cognitive Neurology Department at the University Medical Center (Göttingen, Germany); and Co-Investigator of the “Decision and Awareness” group (DAG) at the German Primate Center (DPZ, Göttingen, Germany).
