Gustavo Deco
Theoretical and computational neuroscience session | The title of the talk is not defined yet.
Gustavo Deco is Research Professor at the Institució Catalana de Recerca i Estudis Avançats (ICREA) and Professor at the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) where he leads the Computational Neuroscience group. He was also Director of the Center of Brain and Cognition from 2001 to 2021 (UPF). He is internationally recognized for his contributions to theoretical and computational neuroscience, particularly in the study of large-scale brain dynamics and cognition.
His research focuses on understanding how cognitive functions emerge from the interaction of distributed brain networks. By combining dynamical systems theory, whole-brain computational modeling, and neuroimaging data, his work has provided fundamental insights into brain states, consciousness, and the neural mechanisms underlying psychiatric and neurological disorders.
Prof. Deco is a highly cited scientist whose work has had a lasting impact and continues to influence how brain dynamics are studied across theoretical, cognitive, and clinical neuroscience.
